Rhyme Time is a relaxed and welcoming introduction to the Toowoomba Grammar Junior School— a gentle way for families to experience our early‑years environment.
Modelled on a high-quality playgroup, the morning allows young boys to explore, play and connect while parents gain a feel for our warm and supportive Junior School community. Families are invited to enjoy a calm, unhurried experience designed especially for boys beginning to imagine what school might look and feel like.
It’s a low‑pressure opportunity to meet our teachers, see our spaces and understand how TGS supports early confidence and builds strong foundations for bright futures.
What You Will Experience
8:30am | Arrival and Welcome — Fidelis Lane
Your morning begins at Fidelis Lane where families are warmly welcomed by our Junior School staff. There is time to order a coffee, settle in with your son and enjoy a relaxed introduction to the TGS community before we walk together into the Junior School precinct.
8:45am | Guided Junior School Walkthrough
Families will enjoy a gentle, child-friendly walkthrough of key early‑years spaces including the Prep area and our library. Along the way, you’ll meet Ting Tong, our beloved TGS mascot. This is an ideal chance to experience the calm atmosphere, learning environments and outdoor areas that support boys in their early years.
9:00am | Library Play and Rhyme Time
In the Junior School Library, boys can explore self-directed play activities such as puzzles, drawing and quiet games. A short rhyme or story session led by a Prep teacher follows, offering a warm and engaging taste of the kinds of early-literacy experiences our boys enjoy in their first years at school.
9:30am | Outdoor Play, Morning Tea and Conversations
The morning continues outdoors with relaxed play in the Prep outdoor area supported by our Senior School students. Morning tea is provided and parents are invited to chat with the Head of Junior School, speak with Enrolments or talk to a Prep teacher. A Prep classroom will also be open for families who would like to step inside and get a sense of the learning environment.
To finish the morning, Ting Tong returns for a fun farewell.
