Toowoomba Grammar School is excited to welcome our new Deputy Head of Junior School (Teaching and Learning), Mrs Chantelle Bauer. Mrs Bauer brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role, having lived and worked in the Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland region her entire life.
She was born and bred in St George, attended university in Toowoomba and took her first teaching role in Roma. She has worked in various roles across the region, including Year Level Coordinator, Head of Department, Head of Curriculum, Literacy Coach, Behaviour Coach, Principal Advisor - Positive Behaviour for Learning and Deputy Principal.
Mrs Bauer is looking forward to getting to know the TGS community and building positive working relationships with staff.
"First and foremost, I want to meet all the boys and their families," she said.
"I am also excited to begin developing positive working relationships with staff built on trust, to increase the collective efficacy of the team."
Mrs Bauer's educational philosophy is centred on the belief that students learn best when their wellbeing is optimised, and they develop a strong sense of wellbeing when they experience success in learning.
"Through extensive experience in leadership and regional advisory roles, I have gained a deep understanding of best practice when supporting leadership teams to build the collective efficacy of staff," she explained.
"We must empower our staff as professionals through the delivery of high-quality teacher professional learning, ensuring consistency of best practice and utilisation of high yield strategies."
Mrs Bauer also places great importance on parental interaction and community.
"Toowoomba Grammar School is a school that was built by the community, for the community," she said.
"The formal and informal connections between families and school are incredibly important for all students. Such relationships provide parents with the information they need to support their children’s learning and success, as well as convey parents’ beliefs about the importance of education to staff and students."
Mrs Bauer believes a boys’ only education offers many advantages.
"Learning can be differentiated and individualised to allow each boy the best opportunity to achieve their ultimate potential."
We are thrilled to have Mrs Bauer join the TGS community and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our students' education and wellbeing.
