Exciting developments are on the horizon for the Junior School, with plans now approved for a new playground designed to inspire imagination, adventure and play for years to come.
At the centre of Stage 1 is the Adventure Ship, a striking play structure that will transform the current sandpit area into a space full of energy, movement and creativity.
Designed as more than just a playground, the ship will become a defining feature of the Junior School. Visible from Herries Street, it will create a sense of arrival and offer a glimpse of the experiences that await boys in the early years at TGS.
The design brings together a range of play elements, including a multi-level deck, climbing access, slides, interactive panels and a large sandpit environment beneath the hull. Each element has been carefully considered to support imaginative play, physical development and social connection.
This project forms Stage 1 of a broader vision for the Junior School playground, with future stages planned to expand the space and create even more opportunities for exploration and play.
Following consultation with the School community and detailed planning through the Works and Finance Committees, the Board of Trustees has approved the project, with the School engaging Everything Outside with construction expected to commence late in 2026. The project is planned for completion in early 2027.
This investment reflects our continued focus on the early years and the role that thoughtfully designed spaces play in supporting learning, wellbeing and development.
We look forward to bringing this exciting vision to life.
