For Brisbane-based solicitor Brendan Ezzy (2000-04), some of the most valuable connections in his life began during his years at Toowoomba Grammar School.
After attending TGS from 2000 to 2004, Brendan went on to study a Bachelor of Laws and Psychological Science at Griffith University before being admitted as a solicitor in 2011. Today, he practises in Commercial and Estate Litigation and Advisory, a profession where relationships and networks play a significant role.
"TGS has certainly been helpful in developing networks throughout my career," Brendan said. "Working in a profession that relies heavily on relationships, I've found being a TGS Old Boy valuable, particularly while building connections in Brisbane."
While his professional journey has taken him beyond the School gates, it is the friendships formed during his school years that remain among his strongest memories.
"The friends I made at TGS are definitely what stand out most," he said. "Many of those friendships remain strong today, despite people now living across Queensland, New South Wales and even the United States."
Brendan also fondly recalls the teachers who helped shape his experience at the School.
"Seeing Mrs Yeabsley, who was my Housemaster, during the TGS 150 celebrations was really special. It brought back a lot of memories and reminded me of the impact so many staff had during my time at Grammar."
Like many Old Boys, sport also played a defining role in Brendan's TGS experience.
"I was fortunate to play a wide range of sports with my mates, but beating Nudgee in First XV Rugby is a particularly fond memory."
Today, Brendan remains connected to TGS not only through lifelong friendships, but through a desire to give back to the School that provided him with opportunities and experiences that helped shape his future.
Having joined the TGS Old Boys' Association Committee this year, he has gained a deeper appreciation for the work being done to strengthen connections across the alumni community.
"It's been great to see the work the Association has undertaken in recent years and the potential it has to contribute to the School community and help Old Boys stay connected."
As one of the reunion leads for the upcoming Brisbane and Sydney Old Boys Reunions, Brendan is encouraging fellow Old Boys to reconnect with the School and with one another.
"Events like these are important because they bring people together. Whether you're reconnecting with old friends, expanding your professional network or simply catching up on what has been happening at TGS, there is real value in maintaining those connections."
Old Boys from the Classes of 1985, 1995, 2005 and 2015 have already registered to attend the upcoming reunions. Will your year be represented?

Toowoomba Grammar School Director of Volleyball, Mr Eric Smith is one of the highest ranked volleyball coaches in Queensland following a recent accreditation course. Some wonderful recognition for talented Year 8 musician, Finlay Waring. Finlay was offered a place in the prestigious State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) for Southeast Queensland.
