The 30th annual Grammar Art Show from March 24-26, will showcase a dynamic and diverse exhibition of more than 650 contemporary Australian artworks on display, a further 275 online from 220 different artists.

The Grammar Art Show has become such a prestigious exhibition that artists from all over Australia nominate their work months before the Show and, unfortunately, many don’t make the final cut. Grammar Art Show is recognised as one of Toowoomba's signature events, attracting over 3,500 people. It is the major fundraiser of the Toowoomba Grammar School P and F with monies raised distributed between a number of projects to benefit TGS students and local charities.

The 2022 Art Show produced our highest sales to date with over $270,000 worth of work sold on Opening Night alone. This particular event sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale and was attended by guests from the local area and beyond, including significant numbers from interstate. In total, the show generated more than $480,000 in sales, with 450 pieces sold to buyers across Australia and overseas.

Following on from the success of the last three years, works from this year’s Art Show will also be available online, enabling Australian artwork to be snapped up by buyers from all around the world. Art lovers can enjoy the Art Show and purchase pieces from the comfort of home via grammarartshow.com

This year’s feature artists are Joanna Davies and Nell Symonds. Joanna has been drawing, building and creating her whole life: growing up in an large family of potters, dancers, painters and actors on a dirt road in rural Brookfield, Queensland. In short, Joanna loves to paint. Her large scale oil paintings are filled with energy and emotion and the figurative movement she specialises in is both striking and intimate. She’s thrilled to be this year’s feature artist.

Nell was raised in the south west of Western Australia. Living in small towns with strong communities and spending her time largely outdoors. Whether in the native bush, learning to discern the difference between Jarrah or Red Gums, or by the ocean. Nell predominately worked in graphite and charcoal in her 20s. Becoming a mother and wife has changed her perspective on life and herself. Having a creative outlet is refreshing to the soul and brings a new dimension to living.

The Grammar Art Show isn’t just an exhibition, it’s a month-long festival of art, including the Art Trail, which provides a sneak peek of works at various locations around Toowoomba from March 4-22 and the popular Art Among Friends on Saturday, 25 March.

Opening night is on Friday, 24 March which has already sold out, but there are plenty of opportunities for people to view the Grammar Art Show from 9:30am-7:00pm on Saturday, 25 March or from 9:30am-5:00pm on Sunday, 26 March. There are high tea sessions and the ever-popular café operating for people to sit back and relax with friends.
