The Toowoomba Grammar Swimming Club has once again demonstrated its excellence in the pool, claiming an impressive collection of trophies at the Darling Downs Regional Swimming Association (DDRSA) Awards ceremony held at Clifford Park Turf Club.
The club's outstanding performance this season has cemented its position as the region's premier swimming club, with no other local club achieving comparable success. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication of both swimmers and coaching staff throughout the 2024-2025 season.
Major Club Championships
The TGS Swimming Club secured the top honour in multiple championship categories:
- 2024-2025 DDRSA Toowoomba Open - Champion Club
- 2024-2025 DDRSA Short Course Championship Aggregate Club Trophy
- 2024-2025 Short Course Championship Percentage Club Trophy
- 2024-2025 Regional Championship Aggregate Club Trophy

Individual Excellence Recognised
Several swimmers and coaches received prestigious individual awards, highlighting the depth of talent within the club.
Alex Reddacliff, the 2024 TGS Swimming Captain and TGS Old Boy (2023-24), was awarded the Kenneth McKinney Memorial Trophy for Open Male Swimmer, while Mr Jason Cooper, TGS Director of Swimming, received the Toowoomba Coach of the Year award.
Additional perpetual trophies awarded to TGS swimmers included:
- TDSA Open Ladies Trophy: Open Female Swimmer - Sienna Deurloo
- Vera and Guy Simon Most Improved 10 Year Old - Douglas Plumb
- Shorter Trophy - Top Female 16 Years Swimmer - Tahli Wilson
- The Veivers Family Trophy for the Pursuit of Excellence in the Sport of Swimming - Tahli Wilson
- DDRSA Swimmer of the Year - Sienna Deurloo
The club also claimed the Flying Squadron Shield and Tim Barrett Club Trophy.

The club extends special recognition to its dedicated coaching team whose continued commitment and expertise have been instrumental in developing the swimmers' abilities and achieving these outstanding results.
Under the leadership of Mr Jason Cooper, TGS Director of Swimming and recipient of the Toowoomba Coach of the Year award, swimmers benefit from truly world-class guidance.
Mr Cooper's elite swimming background - representing Australia at the Pan Pacific Championships, Commonwealth Games and World Championships (1989-1991), winning Commonwealth Games gold and bronze medals in 1990, and holding the world record in the Men's 50m Butterfly in 1991 - provides swimmers with an unparalleled coaching experience. This combination of elite athletic achievement and coaching excellence creates an environment where swimmers can reach their full potential.
Year-Round Excellence
Swimming remains one of the few sports that operates year-round at Toowoomba Grammar School. The state-of-the-art P.B. Hauser Aquatic Centre provides an exceptional indoor facility that enables swimmers from TGS and the broader region to participate in lessons, squad training and both school and club activities throughout the year, including during holiday periods.

100th anniversary of the TGS Old Chem Lab
It remains a very important and significant building within our School, even a hundred years on. The year 1924, was a little over five years after the end of the World War I, Australia’s Prime Minister was Stanley Bruce, the Queensland Premier was Ted Theodore and the State’s Governor was on hand for TGS’s prize giving and to officiate the start of works on the new chemistry lab. Jeremy's Road to Paris 2024
During Jeremy's time at TGS he represented the School in numerous endeavours but was particularly known for his contributions to the Arts, particularly music. On the sports field, Jeremy represented TGS in GPS Athletics, Cross Country, Cricket and Football. Under the guidance of Mr Mark Oliphant during his Cross Country days, all Jeremy wanted to do was run fast and be like everyone else.
