How do we best inspire and teach our students how to write?
Author, journalist and educator James Knight has conducted writing and storytelling workshops across the world. In this hands-on workshop James will introduce some of the techniques he uses in the classroom.
- Connection and engagement.
- How we can really use ‘Who, what, where, why, when and how.’
- There is no such thing as ‘bad’ writing.
- The science of writing: explore and experiment.
- Visual stimulation, including environmental print.
- Write what you know.
The aim of this workshop is to encourage teachers to see through both a writer’s eyes and mind, and the eyes and minds of the students.
The final part of the session will involve small groups working together to set an exercise for their peers.
