Toowoomba Grammar School and the Australian Cricket Institute have once again joined forces to offer one of the strongest cricket clinics in the country for school-aged cricketers. The three-day Camp (from January 20-22), for eight to thirteen-year olds, has been held for over two decades and has developed such a good reputation that it has attracted 155 players from right across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. The players draw on the experience and knowledge of coaches from Toowoomba Grammar School along with eight head coaches from Brisbane and the Australian Cricket Institute. They enjoy the first-class cricket facilities available at TGS, including the indoor cricket nets in the Glen McCracken Sports Centre and the nets and wickets on the Schools’ five ovals. Monday and Tuesday are skills focussed, working on various bowling techniques, batting, wicket-keeping and fielding. On Wednesday the Camp wraps up with the young cricketers putting those skills to the test and enjoying some competitive matches.
