State Honours for Four Grammar Boys

Four Toowoomba Grammar School students have just returned from the prestigious State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) Middle School for South East Queensland. Ruben Fitton (Year 8), Nicholas Bielby (Year 7), Darcy Meagher (Year 7) and Ruben Kruger (Year 5) were selected for the three-day music program that was held from Friday, 31 May to Sunday, 2 June at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, South Bank, Brisbane. 979 musicians in grades 5-8, from 127 schools across South East Queensland took part in the third annual SHEP, which culminated with five Grand Finale Concerts on Sunday. Presented by Open Conservatorium, SHEP gives participating students the unique opportunity to collaborate with a team of eminent Australian and International conductors: Matthew Chinn (UK), Maureen Cameron, Robyn Rosewarne and David Jones will lead the Wind Ensembles; Loreta Fin, Mark Sullivan, Nigel Bardsley, Lisa Stevenson and Raquel Bastos will lead the String Ensembles; with the Vocal Ensembles led by Kate Albury, Trevor Jones and Tim Sherlock.
