National Film Award for TGS Students

Toowoomba Grammar School Year 10 students Ben Rosenberg and Lawson Booth are shooting for the stars after receiving national acclaim for their short film at the NextWave Screen International Film Awards in Coffs Harbour last weekend (April 14-25).

Their film Brain Storm, won the 15-17 Year old category at the Festival. Not only that, but Ben’s script ‘Brian Storm’ won Best Script for the entire festival, beating entrants years older and with much more experience.

Brain Storm has now also been given automatic entry into the 2021 Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival which will take place in October this year.

Ben and Lawson will put their film making aspirations on hold for a few weeks to concentrate on an epic Shakespeare production at Toowoomba Grammar School – Shakespeare in the Grove on Saturday, 1 May.

This will be a beautiful twilight performance in the Jacaranda Grove with families enjoying the open air and family picnic while watching students performing items from Read My Lips in addition to a comic ‘Macbeth – Reimagined’ (Intermediate TiGAA), and the humorous ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (Senior TiGAA).
