This casting highlights the huge array of talent at Toowoomba Grammar School and, along with our sensational results at the recent Toowoomba Eisteddfod, why our Music Program and Department is regarded as the best in Toowoomba for Contemporary Music. Coupled with the fact that TGS hosts the annual AMEB RockSchool exams, there is no denying that Toowoomba Grammar School IS the ‘School of Rock!’
Based on the hit 2003 film, School of Rock, this hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.
Featuring songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, this high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs and touching romance in equally awesome doses!
With a talented local cast, featuring a sensational live kids’ rock band, this musical promises an inspiring jolt of energy and will be a testimony to the transforming power of music
School of Rock will be performed at the Empire Theatre on Friday, 9 September (7:00pm), Saturday, 10 September (1:00pm and 7:00pm) and Sunday, 11 September (1:00pm) with tickets available from the Empire Theatre Box Office.
