Toowoomba Grammar School Year 12 student, Ben Rosenberg is making a name for himself nationally as an up-and-coming young film maker.

Ben won 'Best Director' overall at the 2022 Nextwave Youth Film Awards in Coffs Harbour on Saturday, 22 April for his film 'Green Room'.

There were over 160 short films submitted to the competition from around the country and 28 films were chosen as finalists. Ben was named the Best Director overall!

Ben has had previous success at this competition in his age categories; his first film in 2020 won ‘Best Script’ and the second film in 2021 won ‘Best Director’. The prizes and money from the competition enabled him to invest in his personal film projects.

Ben’s film making skills are well known and highly regarded, not only with his peers and staff at TGS - he often makes entertaining videos for assemblies and is always involved with the multi-media component of School productions, but he’s also recognised amongst the wider Toowoomba community. Ben has produced films for the Empire Theatre (Junior and Senior Impact) along with Junior Choral Society and various private organisations. He also recently won a Bursary with the Empire Theatre to enable him to invest in future film projects.

Ben plans to continue with his filmmaking when he completes Year 12 at the end of this year.
