As part of the Raising Good Men Seminar Series, we will be hosting a series of guest speakers to share their expertise and insights in the pastoral care field. These events are open to everyone in the community, and not limited to TGS families.

The Teenage Brain

For our first Raising Good Men Seminar for 2024, we welcome world-renowned neuroscientist Dr Jared Cooney Horvath who will conduct an online seminar exploring the teenage brain. This will include how the brain develops and changes during adolescence and early adulthood. By joining Jared’s engaging session you can learn how and why teenagers think differently and consider ways we can support our boys academically, emotionally, and cognitively through their adolescence.

Dr Jared Cooney Horvath is a renowned figure in the realm of educational neuroscience, with a focus on unpacking neuroscientific principles to enhance teaching and learning in educational settings. With an extensive academic background, Jared has conducted research and delivered lectures at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Melbourne.

A prolific author, Jared has penned five books, created a widely popular YouTube channel, and authored more than 30 research articles. His impactful contributions have garnered attention from various mainstream publications, including The Economist, WIRED, The New Yorker, New Scientist, and ABC’s Catalyst. Committed to bridging the gap between neuroscience and education, Jared’s work aims to publicise cutting-edge brain and behavioural research to educators, students, and parents to improve teaching and learning outcomes for all students.

This free event is open to all interested members of the public.
