Debating allows the boys to build self-confidence and formulate ideas and arguments that can change the minds and opinions of others.

Debating also fosters skills far beyond the ability to speak in public. Debating teaches students to take an objective view of issues, to be aware there is an opposite view to theirs and to think quickly under pressure.

Debating occurs from Years 7 – 12 at both the inter-house and inter-school level. Toowoomba Grammar School enters multiple teams at each year level in the local Queensland Debating Union (QDU) competition.

Toowoomba Grammar School has been awarded top honours, having received the trophy for “Most Successful School” in the Toowoomba and the Darling Downs Region in the QDU Competition.
