Senior School - Years 7 to 12

Orientation Events

Orientation day for all boys who are new to the Senior School in 2022 - Friday, 5 November 2021

Old Hall, 8:30am - 3:00pm.

Boys and their parents will learn more about the Senior School and have the opportunity to meet with key staff. Parents will have received an email from the School with additional details about RSVPs, catering, clothing, etc. Please contact the enrolments office on (07) 4687 2517 or enrol@twgs.qld.edu.au if you did not receive this information.

Orientation morning for all new students and their parents - Monday, 24 January 2022

Senior School Assembly Hall, 8:45am.

You will also have a meeting with your son's Head of House. Boys should wear their "blazer" uniform and bring their "golds" PE uniform for sport activities.

Outline of the day:

8:45am: Senior staff address
9:30am: Years 8 to 12 House meetings and Year 7 information session
10:30am: Morning tea
11:00am: Parent and student Information Technology and student laptop sessions
12:00pm - 3:00pm: Parents and boys will have a variety of options from 12:00pm, including final uniform purchases, Day Head of House interviews (details will have been emailed to new families), Health Centre interviews (optional), Learning Support interviews (if necessary, bookings required), School Counsellor interviews (if necessary, bookings required). Parents may depart when they are ready
3:00pm: Year 11 QCE information session for parents and boys
3:00pm - 5:00pm: Cricket and Volleyball trials for all new boys ("golds" PE uniform to be worn). Please note, boys are welcome to come and go during the trials, particularly if they have a meeting with their Head of House.
5:00pm - 6:30pm: Parents are invited to attend Headmaster's Welcome Function on the Pavilion Lawns (smart casual dress)

TGS Top Tip - boys should come prepared with a password they would like to use. The password must be a minimum of 8 characters long, have at least 1 upper case character, at least 1 lower case character, and at least one number and/or special character.

Start of School Academic Year

Classes commence on Tuesday, 25 January 2022. Boys should arrive at the Senior School Assembly Hall in time for the 8:25am Senior School Assembly. Boys should wear their "blues" uniform.

House Allocation and Interview

Your son will be allocated to one of our five Houses and he will remain in that House for the duration of his schooling at Toowoomba Grammar School. The House system provides for the key pastoral care and support, House service and House sport and activity programs.

You will have received your son's House allocation in an email from the School.

For 2021 TGS Year 6 boys and parents from the TGS Junior School, you will meet with your son's Head of House on Thursday, 25 November 2021. Boys should wear their "blazer" uniform. You will have been sent your meeting time and location in an email from the School.

For new dayboys, we would also appreciate you meeting your son's Head of House on Monday, 24 January, 2022. You will have been sent your meeting time and location in an email from the School.

Boarding families will be contacted by their Boarding Head of House prior to the beginning of school to arrange a meeting.

The Parent Lounge

You will have been sent your Parent Lounge login ID via email from the School and you will have received the password via an SMS from the School.

The Parent Lounge is a secure site that provides centralised information and forms including academic results, academic reports and comments. It also includes medical details, your fee account and the ability to book teacher interviews, manage tours and excursions and so on. The Parent Lounge can be accessed via the link on the School's website and then clicking on “Parents”.

All important information in relation to entry into Toowoomba Grammar School is set out in the Parent Lounge under the “School Links” tab. This includes information such as Book and Stationery Lists, Uniform Price Lists and Health History Forms. You can also find much of this information on this webpage.

School Supplied Laptop

All boys in the Senior School will be provided a laptop to support the School’s curriculum. The cost of this laptop is incorporated into the General Purpose Levy. The laptops will be collected by the boys on Monday, 24 January during orientation and they will receive general technology induction, including setting up of the laptop.

Parents are required to have signed the Laptop User Agreement prior to the boys collecting their laptop which will be made available in the Parent Lounge in early January 2022.

Uniform Shop

Opening hours

The uniform shop will be open until Friday, 10 December from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The uniform shop will reopen on Wednesday, 5 January from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Medical Update

To update your son’s medical details (which you will have provided at the time of enrolment), please complete the Health History form and email to the Health Centre at f_health@twgs.qld.edu.au by Friday, 21 January.

Dietary Requirements

If your son has dietary requirements, please complete the Dietary Requirements form and email to the Health Centre at f_health@twgs.qld.edu.au by Friday, 21 January.

Learning Support, Health Centre and School Counsellor Meetings

Should you wish to discuss specific learning support, health matters or counselling support, you can book optional meetings with our friendly support staff. Please contact the Enrolments Officer, Kelly Charles, on (07) 4687 2517 or enrol@twgs.qld.edu.au to arrange any of these meetings.

Sport and Activities Sign Up and Information

Toowoomba Grammar School offers a wide variety of sports, activities and clubs and all boys are encourage to participate.

Music

Toowoomba Grammar School offers a Prep to Year 12 Co-curriculum Music Tuition program and offers private or paired tuition in a range of fields. Further information may be found here

The Senior School office is open from 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday during term time. School holiday office hours will vary and times will be published on the School website. The Senior School office will close from late December to early January.

Online ordering is available from Monday, 1 November 2021 and must be completed by Friday, 10 December 2021.

School book drop off is on Monday, 24 January and times will be advised in due course. The Book and Stationery lists can be found here (from 1 November).

Parent Contact Details
Please update this information in Parent Lounge by Tuesday, 25 January.

It is imperative for the School have correct contact details for parents, guardians, carers and emergency contacts. To update your details, please click on the Parent Details drop down menu, select Address Details, make any necessary changes and click the blue Submit Changes button to save your changes.

Personal History
Please check, and update if necessary, this information in Parent Lounge by Tuesday, 25 January.

To update the details, please click on the Student Details drop down menu, select General Details, select MCEECDYA Details on the left hand side, then click the blue Update box in the lower right corner. Make your changes then select Submit Changes. Please ensure your select each son (if applicable) from the drop down list on the top right.
