By the end of Year 6, Junior School boys are well set to transition seamlessly into the Senior School. The boys are academically prepared, enjoy established friendship groups and are familiar with the School culture and expectations.
Year 6 boys and their parents attend information and orientation sessions run by senior staff leading into the move to the Senior School. These sessions familiarise parents and boys with expectations relating to the academic program, pastoral care, sport, music and various other activities. Prior to the end of Year 6 each boy and his parents meet with his Senior School Housemaster, the key staff member in terms of pastoral care.
A central component of the transition process involves a meeting of nearly 20 staff from both the Junior School and Senior School. This meeting is chaired by the Head of Junior School and relevant information about each Year 6 boy is passed from Junior School teachers to Senior School teachers as this allows Senior School teachers to become more familiar with the boys moving into Year 7.
It is a distinct advantage to commence a Toowoomba Grammar School education in the Junior School.
