Former Australian Test Cricketer Puts New Spin on Cricket at TGS5th February 2020
Former Australian cricketer, Nathan Hauritz put a fresh spin on cricket at Toowoomba Grammar School on Tuesday afternoon, 4 February.
Hauritz conducted a special coaching session with the School’s spin bowlers as the teams continue their training for the challenging GPS season.
The TGS 1st XI had a great start to the GPS season with a dominant home ground win against Brisbane Grammar School on Saturday, 1 February. BGS finished their inning at 9/155 and TGS replied with 3-157 off 30 overs.
While the 1st XI bowlers played a pivotal role in the weekend’s victory it’s hoped the sessions with Hauritz and his new drills will give the players a further edge on their tough competitors.
Hauritz was renowned for his off-spin bowling and represented Australia in 17 Tests, one-dayers and Twenty/20 Internationals. His representation for Australia started at an U19 level in 1999 and continued until 2012.
Born in Wondai, in the South Burnett, Hauritz is now a stock-brocker and cricket coach.
He will provide the TGS cricketers with valuable knowledge and tips focussing on bowling but will also share his experience about batting, fielding and the often overlooked mental preparation required for a long day of cricket.
