Volleyball Season Hits Off at TGS

The Toowoomba Grammar School Volleyball program is growing from strength to strength, with numbers in the second annual Volleyball Camp almost double that of last year.

More than ninety players from Years 7-12 participated in the three-day event, from Monday 20th  – Wednesday 22nd January.

The aim is to develop individual skills in an intensive format in preparation for the very competitive GPS Volleyball Season, as well as assist in confidence building, particularly for the Year 7’s, many of whom have never played the game before. It also helps build depth in the ability of our players and for coaches with their team selection when trials are held at the start of school.

Volleyball is rapidly growing in popularity and last year almost 250 boys signed up across 26 TGS teams, making Toowoomba Grammar School the largest volleyball participant from the nine GPS Schools across South East Queensland. This year’s sign-up is expected to be even bigger.

Although the GPS Volleyball competition is officially a Term 1 sport, TGS has students involved with local, state and national competitions throughout the year.
