New York Scholarship for Two Grammar Boys18th July 2019
The bright lights of New York will be home to Toowoomba Grammar School 2018 Year 12 graduates, Willem Baines and Keanu Tuart after being awarded US College Football Scholarships.
Willem flies out to Sussex College, New Jersey on July 28. Along with playing two games of football each week for the Sussex College team in the Junior College Division, Willem will be studying for a degree in Business Management over the next two years. Upon completion of his Scholarships Willem hopes to be selected by a Division One College to continue his studies and football career in the US.
Keanu will join 2017 TGS graduate, Kyle Parish at Long Island University to play Division One football while also studying for a degree in Business Management on a four year scholarship. Keanu flies out on August 9.
Both boys were selected through the Toowoomba Grammar School Football Pathways Program in partnership with Aussie Athletes Agency and started their application process last November, before being selected by their respective universities and signing Letters of Intent in late February this year.
It’s not an easy task for the young former students to be selected for the highly sought-after Scholarships, with recipients chosen based on both their academic and sporting ability from thousands of hopefuls world-wide.
Willem and Keanu take the total number of TGS students awarded US College Football Scholarships to ten over the past three years.
