Historic Football Decider at TGS

Toowoomba Grammar School is abuzz with excitement with the GPS Football Premiership possibly being decided this weekend, on home turf for the first time ever.

The TGS 1st XI take on Brisbane-based rivals, Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) on Old Boys’ Memorial Oval this Saturday, 15 June from 1:20pm with hundreds of students, parents and TGS Old Boys expected to line the terraces to cheer on the team.

A tough match is predicted with Churchie and TGS currently sitting equal first on the GPS Premiership ladder and both have had a great season, with each team only dropping one game.

TGS went down to Gregory Terrace 3-0 in the opening round and Churchie lost to The Southport School 2-1 in round two.

The GPS Football Premiership began in 1991 and TGS has been quite successful in recent years, winning the Premiership in 2015, 2016, runners-up in 2017 and placing fourth last year.

The result of this weekend’s match, combined with the results from the final round of the season on Friday, 21 June (when TGS plays Brisbane Grammar School) will determine if TGS is the outright Premiership winner, or if the title will be shared with Churchie.

Churchie will be bringing busloads of supporters for what is guaranteed to be a great game and the public is welcome to come along and support the home team.
