TGS Competitors Soar at Australian Championships17th April 2019
Toowoomba Grammar School Year 9 student, Wihan Kruger is the Australian U15 Javelin Champion after winning gold in the event at the Australian Track and Field Championships which were held in Sydney from April 1-7.
Wihan threw 45.06m to win the event. Wihan also competed in the U15 discus and shot put in which he placed 10th and 7th respectively.
TGS had a contingent of six athletes on the Queensland team, with three of our boys winning medals.
Josh Roach won bronze in the U16 400m with a time of 51.29s and U17 runner Jai Gordon brought home two bronze medals after running the 100m in 11.39s and the 200m in 21.10s.
The other TGS Queensland representatives included Lachlan Dolzan (U18 Hammer Throw – 11th), Nick Coonan (U17 800m – 5th in heat), Ewald Kruger (U14 discus – 5th, U14 Shot Put – 6th, U14 Hammer Throw – 6th).
Toowoomba Grammar Old Boy (2011-13) Matt Denny won the Open Discus event with a throw of 65.28m and will now represent Australia at the World Championships.
