Welcome
Toowoomba Grammar School has welcomed boarders since its foundation over 135 years ago. It is now one of the largest boarding schools in Australia (with nearly 300 boarders). The school attracts boarders from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales, the Northern Territory and South Australia. There are very few international students boarding at the school and, because of maximum enrolments, the school does not market overseas for boarders.
There are six Boarding Houses in the school - five in the Senior School and one in the Junior School. Each Senior School Boarding House is run by a Boarding Housemaster who is a member of the teaching staff in the Senior School. The Boarding Housemasters report directly to the Head of Boarding. In addition to all Boarding Housemasters living on the school grounds, the Headmaster and the Deputy Headmaster and their families also reside on site.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Peter Hauser, says that the boarders "give the school a soul" and the school is a better place because of the positive involvement of the boarders in their "home away from home".
We would be delighted to show you our Boarding Houses and for you to meet our boarders and boarding staff. Please contact the Enrolments Office to arrange a tour.
