From the Head of the Junior School

The Junior School of Toowoomba Grammar School  is a place where boys can be boys. The students are challenged academically, cared for in a positive and supportive manner and are encouraged to participate actively in the many rich and diverse co-curricular opportunities available. Children should enjoy school; spending time with their friends and experiencing the delights of education and the opportunities available to them in our Junior School.

The Junior School is an important part of Toowoomba Grammar School. The Junior School caters for boys from Prep to Year 7 with our boys moving into Year 8 in the Senior School well prepared academically, understanding and valuing the school culture and having friendship groups already well established.

The Junior School is uniquely positioned in the educational environment in Toowoomba, being the only all-boys’ school from Prep to Year 7 in Toowoomba. We offer an outstanding education designed for boys that is comparable to similar boys’ schools in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne but with the added benefit of being situated in a regional city.

Our boy-friendly school encourages boys to value learning and to work hard and achieve their personal best in all areas. We acknowledge that boys are active and enthusiastic about much they do. Our students are encouraged to “have a go” at the many opportunities available to them in sport, music, drama, chess and so on. To see boys taking their shoes and socks off and running around on the grass fields at lunchtime and then returning to class to read after lunch, enjoying both activities equally, is a small example that illustrates what our school does so very well.

From my perspective it is important that the boys enjoy attending school, that they are offered a stimulating and rewarding education and participate in the many wonderful opportunities on offer.

I encourage you to visit the school, meet the staff and students and view the facilities. You will gain a clear appreciation that we very much offer the highest quality of education designed specifically for boys.
