GPS sport is frequently regarded as the premier “school boy” sporting competition in Queensland.
Many Australian representatives commenced their sporting careers when they were school boys, playing in this competition. This includes an array of representatives in team sports as well as Olympic athletes and medallists.
Boys in Years 5 and 6 have access to a range of GPS sports, which provides them with the opportunity to compete at a more serious level against the other GPS schools. Team games are typically played on Saturdays, with both home and away fixtures. This prepares the boys well for their move to the Senior School in Year 7. A range of pre-meets lead up to the championship events of Cross Country, Swimming and Track & Field. It is not compulsory for a boy to participate in the GPS sporting competition but many boys love the involvement.
