TGS Set for Strong Volleyball Season

The inaugural Toowoomba Grammar School Volleyball Camp was held from January 23-25 with over 50 players from Years 7-12 participating in the three-day event.

Volleyball is rapidly growing in popularity with almost 250 boys signing up across 26 TGS teams in 2019. Toowoomba Grammar School now boasts the largest participant program from the nine GPS Schools across South East Queensland.

This is testament to the strength of our Volleyball Program and will assist in building depth in the ability of our players.

Due to this growth, this is the first time the School has held an all-age preseason training camp.

The aim is to develop individual skills in an intensive format in preparation for the very competitive GPS Volleyball Season.

The camp assists with confidence building, particularly for the Year 7’s, many of whom have never played the game before. It also helps coaches with team selection when trials are held at the start of the term.

Although the GPS Volleyball competition is officially a Term 1 sport, TGS has students involved with local, state and national competitions throughout the year.
